Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP)

About the IAP

CEESA’s Industrial Affiliates Program (IAP) allows partner organizations to support leading research on emissions monitoring and mitigation. The IAP provides funding to support research, education and training. The program enables faculty, researchers, and graduate students to conduct cutting-edge research on critical issues facing the global energy sector.

The IAP is a structured, multi-tier program designed to connect companies with world-class researchers, and the next generation of engineers and analysts on topics of mutual interest. At the same time, the IAP supports the training of graduate students who will become leaders in emissions monitoring and mitigation across academia, industry, government, and civil society.

The IAP complements CEESA’s existing programs by increasing overall research capacity and supporting interdisciplinary research efforts. It continues CEESA’s commitment to working with partners outside of academia, ensuring that scientific research is grounded in operational realities and leads to actionable solutions.

CEESA tackles pressing issues in emissions and energy research:

  1. Emissions monitoring and mitigation: Advanced methods for accurate, real-time emissions tracking across global supply chains.

  2. Low-carbon energy supply chains: Developing innovative approaches to measuring, monitoring, reporting, and verifying emissions for hydrogen and low-carbon fuels.

  3. Life Cycle Analysis: Providing detailed assessments to guide sustainable investments and global policy.

  4. Energy systems modeling: Modeling of the short-term and long-term impacts of adding new energy supplies, including analysis of emissions trajectories.

  5. Gas market analysis: Anticipating how concerns over emissions intensity will reshape gas markets, including new demands in Europe and Asia.

  6. Energy policy: Domestic and international policies shaping demand for lower-carbon and lower-emissions energy.

Interested in becoming a member?

IAP affiliates support broad research areas rather than specific projects. There are three IAP membership tiers:

  • Affiliate members benefit from access to training and certificate programs, as well as early access to events and roundtables to share CEESA research.

  • Charter members enjoy those benefits and have one seat on CEESA’s Industrial Steering Committee, which recommends budget allocations across broad research areas. Charter members have access to research briefings and have the opportunity to designate one CEESA staff member as a Named Energy Fellow for a two-year period.

  • Founding members will receive all the benefits at the Affiliate and Charter levels. They will be entitled to two seats on the Industrial Steering Committee, which will recommend research budget allocations among research areas with one vote per seat, complementary access for five participants in any training or certificate program offered through CEESA, the option to designate two center staff personnel as a Named Energy Fellow(s) for a period of two years at a time, and the option for two participants in a visitor-in-residence program.

Thank you to our members for their continued support.
